Tamil Nadu Citizens Support Jallikattu Ban

To show opponents of the Supreme Court’s ruling against jallikattu that they’re hugely outnumbered, scores of Tamil Nadu residents took to social media and stood up for the state’s bulls. Using the hashtag “#TNAgainstJallikattu”, compassionate citizens posted pictures of themselves holding signs in support of the ban that ended the use of bulls for jallikattu, bull races, bullfights or any other similar type of event. The Supreme Court’s verdict also struck down the Tamil Nadu Regulation of Jallikattu Act,driving home the message – echoed by these virtual heroes – that harming animals for the sake of “sport” belongs in India’s past.
