I was a hard-core meat-eater. I used to call myself an animal lover, until I saw a lot of undercover videos of factory farms and slaughterhouses on PETA’s Facebook page, which made me question my meat-eating habits. I quit meat overnight and gradually reduced my dairy consumption to zero. I have been an active part of vegan outreach and silent protests. Following me, my family has also gone vegan!
I am a vegan bodybuilder and inspire people to choose a vegan diet in order to have a healthy life. I help people switch to a vegan diet by making them realise what they are actually eating and breaking the myth that you have to eat meat to get protein and have a muscular body.
I am vegan because I love animals and don’t want to serve them on a plate. My diet gives me glorious skin and hair and a healthy body.
I am a vegetarian because I love animals. I do many things for them, such as giving food to the street dogs around me each day and providing animals with veterinary care.
I love being vegetarian because I’m not contributing to the immense emotional pain and suffering of animals. I want to join PETA in creating a global understanding of one’s social responsibility towards them.
I chose to be a vegetarian as I have a soft heart for animals and I easily recognise their emotions.
I am a vegetarian because I feel that hurting animals is bad and eating them is unimaginable. I spread awareness of the reasons why people should become vegetarian.
I am vegan because I love animals and can’t imagine hurting them in any way.
I am vegetarian because I believe we need to take care of our fellow Earthlings. By going vegetarian, one can avoid the guilt that comes from consuming another living being.
I turned vegan after discovering the dairy industry’s cruelty to animals and impact on the environment through documentaries like Earthlings, Cowspiracy, and Forks Over Knives. Being vegan makes me feel fresh, healthy, energetic, and content.
Women
I believe vegetarian food is much better for the body, mind, and soul.
I came across people living a vegan and sustainable life in Sadhana Forest in Pondicherry and was inspired to go vegan. It’s the least I can do for animals. I look forward to the day when meat can be cultured in laboratories and people accept it in their diets.
I’ve been vegetarian for five years because I care about animals and don’t want to eat them. I share information on animal welfare with my friends and help them understand why we need to love animals.
I am a vegetarian and always try to influence people to replace meat-based meals with vegetarian ones. I actively work for stray animals and am a believer in the power of empathy. Killing someone to satisfy your taste buds is a cruel and selfish idea to me.
I am a vegetarian because I don’t want to hurt animals. I don’t eat meat or use anything that’s made of animals, like leather or fur.
I’ve been vegan since January 2017. Giving up the use of silk, leather, and wool and buying cruelty-free products was easy, but giving up dairy wasn’t until I watched a whole bunch of PETA videos as well as documentaries like Cowspiracy and What the Health. I started an Instagram account, @adiventurousvegan, to showcase how easy and amazing it is to be vegan in India and abroad. My aim is to show everyone that we have the power to choose consciously every single day and that every choice affects another being’s life.
I see no difference between human and animal emotions, and if we deserve justice, peace, and happiness, then so do animals. I have been a vegetarian for the past 15 years, since I visited a slaughterhouse.
I am vegetarian because an animal’s life is more important than my plate. I was born in a Muslim family, and I am so glad my parents and in-laws respect this decision of mine. A vegetarian diet prevents the suffering of the voiceless and is better for our health.
I owe my good health to my vegan lifestyle. It makes me feel light and good about my body. It has always been difficult for me to look at animals being slaughtered, because they, like us, have emotions and feelings.
I don’t wear leather, mink, or mohair or any fabric that’s made from animal skin. I have been a vegetarian for over six years, and I never want to harm animals.
Pick Your Favourite Finalist
Now that you’ve seen the finalists, vote below to help us decide whom we should choose as the Cutest Vegetarian Next Door.
Voting will end on 29 September 2018, and the winners will be announced on 3 October 2018. Winners will be chosen based on equal consideration of three factors: total number of votes received, PETA’s assessment of the finalists’ physical attractiveness and their dedication to protecting animals, and how inspirational PETA finds their reasons for going or being vegetarian.
