Don’t Let Valentine’s Day Be a Downer
Don’t let meat and other animal-based foods ruin your health – or your love life: go vegan! Impotence, which affects more than 50 per cent of our nation’s males over age 40, is often a sign of blocked arteries – and artery blockages are commonly caused by eating meat, eggs and dairy products, which are high in cholesterol and saturated fat and can lead to obesity, diabetes and other health problems, which in turn, can cause erectile dysfunction.
But there’s still a good reason to get excited: studies show that these conditions can be prevented – or even reversed – by eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, pulses and other healthy vegan foods. Plant-based foods are cholesterol-free, generally low in saturated fat and high in fibre and other essential nutrients. They can help scrape the plaque off your arteries and get your blood flowing so that you can enjoy all physical activities.
Plant-based meals can give you energy, stamina and endurance. Vegans tend to weigh less and have a reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other conditions. If this sounds like good news for you and your sweetheart, take PETA’s Pledge to Be Veg. And if you’re looking to spice up your sex life even more, try chilli peppers, dark chocolate, berries and other vegan aphrodisiacs that will put you in the mood for love.
