Actor and Influencer Amy Aela Has Chickens & Rabbits for Lunch, but as Guests, in Heartwarming PETA India Christmas Video
Just in time for Christmas, a heartwarming video shows actor and influencer Amy Aela having chickens and rabbits for lunch—but this time, the animals are guests at the table, not on it. In the video, organised with PETA India, Aela prepares a feast of delicious fresh fruits and vegetables for the rescued animals and shares how chickens suffer in the cruel meat and egg industries.

Chickens form complex social structures, dream when they sleep, and worry about the future, just as humans do. They have impressive communication skills, using dozens of types of vocalizations, each with a different meaning. Mother hens cluck softly to their chicks before they even hatch, and they cluck back. Yet more chickens are raised and killed for food than all other land animals combined. In the meat industry, chickens are confined by up to the thousands to severely crowded, filthy sheds and bred to grow such unnaturally large upper bodies that their legs often become crippled under the weight. At the country’s markets and slaughterhouses, workers cut their throats while they’re still conscious. Chickens in the egg industry are crammed into such tiny cages that they can’t even spread their wings, and male chicks are violently killed almost as soon as they hatch because they can’t lay eggs.
Each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals every year, dramatically shrinks their food-related carbon footprint and reduces their own risk of suffering from cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and obesity. PETA India’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.
Amy, who featured in Bollywood films such as Runway 34 and Bloody Daddy and web series Karmma Calling, will be soon seen in the Indian adaption of “Jane the Virgin” on Jio Cinema in 2025.
