A Run with Purpose: PETA India and FirstRand take on the Tata Mumbai Run 2025
Despite a crowded field of more than 65,000 runners at the Tata Mumbai Run 2025, PETA India’s runners stood out with their bright T-shirts and clear mission: to make every step count for animals.
With the generous support of FirstRand Services Private Limited, the team set out to push boundaries, break a sweat, and turn every kilometre into a message of compassion.
As the sun rose over the city on January 19, thousands of keen runners assembled at the start line. At 8:15 a.m., PETA India and runners from FirstRand set off on the Dream Run, PETA Pack T-shirts catching the eyes of passersby.
Staffers Trunesh, Dipali, Anshul, Pravin, Chintan, and Radhika stopped for a short break and met a four-legged supporter.
Running along the iconic Marine Drive, with the sea stretching beside them, the runners felt the power of unity. The road – normally packed with traffic – became a space for movement and change. The atmosphere was electric, with dhols beating, music blaring, and spectators cheering on participants.
Despite the rising temperatures, the runners pressed forward, encouraged by the crowd’s infectious enthusiasm and commitment to making the world a kinder place for animals.
After crossing the finish line, the team received their medals, capturing the moment in celebratory selfies. They then gathered to enjoy some well-earned vegan street food and share stories from the run.
With the support of FirstRand Services Private Limited, who also participated in the 10k, half marathon and full marathon categories, and generous donors, PETA India raised more than Rs 5 Lakh to go towards vital work for animals. More than just a race, the Tata Mumbai Run showed the strength of collective action and the impact it can have on all living beings.
