Cricket Star Singh Dhoni Adopts a Desi Dog!
Cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni recently tweeted that he adopted a rescue dog from an animal shelter. The cutie’s name is Leah, and PETA has sent her a “100% Desi Dog” T-shirt to help celebrate her new leash on life.

Singh is a real winner in our eyes. He joins a long list of compassionate celebrities, including Pamela Anderson, Raveena Tandon-Thadani, Dino Morea, Pooja Bhatt, Sunny Leone, Trisha Krishnan and Randeep Hooda, who have either adopted an animal from a shelter or rescued one from the street.
Countless dogs and cats struggle to survive on the street, and many others languish in animal shelters simply because there are not enough good homes for them all. Every time someone buys a dog or cat from a breeder or pet shop, a homeless animal roaming the streets or waiting in an animal shelter loses a chance at finding a good home.
Why not follow in your favourite stars’ footsteps by rescuing an animal from the street or adopting one (or two) from a shelter? Perhaps you could consider adding an older animal to your family since they often get overlooked by people who want puppies and kittens.
Whatever you do, please pledge never to buy animals from breeders or pet stores, and always have your animals sterilised. Then you, too, will be a true champion – whether you’re an athlete or not.
