PETA India Rescues Five Geese From a Cemetery in Mumbai
After a concerned citizen reported that five geese were being kept in extremely poor conditions at a cemetery in Mumbai, the PETA India team sprang into action, rescuing the birds and facilitating their rehabilitation at Fiza Farm, a sanctuary nearby.
The geese had been confined to an enclosure with no enrichment and barely enough space to move about. The birds’ water bowl contained dirty water. Moreover, the coop was not properly covered to protect them from heavy rain.
After taking cognisance of the situation, PETA India’s cruelty response coordinators conferred with cemetery management and explained to them that geese aren’t exclusively land animals and require access to moderately large water bodies to thrive. Upon learning that the birds would be moved to a facility equipped with all the necessary amenities for their care, the cemetery authorities duly handed over the five geese to PETA India.
Thereafter, PETA India’s Rapid Response Team transported the geese to Fiza Farm. The birds have settled into their new environment well and are being expertly looked after.
