Recently, PETA India supporters gathered in Bhopal to cram themselves into cages stacked on top of one another – conditions similar to those on egg farms, where chickens spend their entire lives inside cages so small they cannot spread a wing in any direction.

In the video “Glass Walls”, PETA documented that most chickens used for eggs are confined to a space that’s smaller than an A4 sheet of paper and that parts of their beaks are cut off with a hot blade to prevent them from pecking each other in frustration. Once their bodies wear out and they’re no longer considered useful for egg production, they’re sent to slaughter, where they’re killed in full view of their companions. Male chicks, considered worthless by the industry, are killed by the millions shortly after hatching.

In addition to sparing chickens and other animals immense suffering, people who go vegan dramatically reduce their carbon footprint as well as their risk of suffering from heart disease, obesity, cancer, and diabetes.
