Raveena Tandon-Thadani Urges Prime Minister To Save Forests And Wildlife

With 58 hectares of forest land set to be destroyed for the Delhi-Mumbai freight corridor project, Bollywood star and PETA India supporter Raveena Tandon-Thadani sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning urging him to intervene on behalf of the panthers and other animals who will be negatively impacted by the loss of their habitat if the corridor project goes through as currently planned.

“Since much of the forest area around Mumbai has already been destroyed, a small area of green is all that animals have left”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way” – points out that forest officials have noted that the freight corridor will restrict the movement of monkeys, boars, hyenas, deer and other animals. The project is set to destroy large parts of forests.

“I hope you will agree that developmental and town planning must, therefore, include forest preservation and respect for wildlife”, concludes Tandon-Thadani. “Mumbaikars look forward to your action to save our forests and wildlife.”
