Based on a viral video of a dog being run over by a car in Saharanpur, PETA India collaborated with a local activist – Dr Abhijeet Tomar and the Sadar Police Station in Saharanpur to get a first information report (FIR) registered. The FIR is against the driver, who can be seen honking, but instead of waiting for the dog to cross, runs over and kills the canine. The driver does not stop after running over the dog. The FIR has been registered under Sections 325, 115(2), 352, 351(3) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023.

PETA India urges anyone who comes across an injured animal to immediately contact a veterinarian or an animal rescue group for help. It’s also important to stay with the animal and ensure they’re properly treated and tended to. PETA India operates a 24/7 animal emergency line, 9820122602, where callers can receive local contacts and advice.
