(VOTING IS CLOSED) Who is PETA’s 2017 Cutest Rescued Cat Alive?
After clawing through hundreds of contest entries – and surviving the ensuing cuteness overload – we’ve managed to come up with 10 finalists for PETA’s 2017 Cutest Rescued Cat Alive title. Now it’s up to you to help us decide who we should choose to purr their way to first prize.
To vote to help us decide who we should choose as the winner, simply enter your contact information below and select your favourite finalist. Voting is open until 11 July 2017, and we’ll crown the winners on 13 July 2017. The guardian of the lucky cat who is named the Cutest Rescued Cat Alive will receive a first-place certificate, a copy of Ingrid Newkirk and Jane Ratcliffe’s book One Can Make a Difference, a “My Cat Is a Rescue” T-shirt, a PETA T-shirt and a cute cat toy. The second-place winner’s guardian will receive a second-place certificate, a copy of One Can Make a Difference, a “My Cat Is a Rescue” T-shirt and a cute cat toy. The third-place winner will receive a third-place certificate, a copy of One Can Make a Difference and a cute cat toy. The top three kitties will appear in an upcoming issue of Animal Times, PETA India’s magazine for members.
As much as we love kitties, sometimes there can be too much of a good thing, which is why spaying and neutering is so important. Help end animal overpopulation by taking the pledge to have all your companion cats sterilised. Spaying just one female cat can prevent 420,000 births in seven years, keeping more cats off the street and in loving homes.
The Finalists
Alia had been abandoned, but fortunately, Bhagirath found her and gave her all the love and care she deserved. Now, she’s a healthy and happy cat and loves to cuddle with her guardian.
Billu struggled to survive on the streets after his mother and siblings died. Gowri decided to foster him temporarily, but in the end, he was too adorable to let go. For the last seven years, he has been the most pampered member of the family.
Candy was just 4 or 5 months old when Aishwarya rescued him from danger on a busy road. The young cat is now a part of Aishwarya’s family.
Dora the kitten was suffering from anaemia and digestive problems when Shruti found her. Her mother couldn’t be located, and her sibling died. Shruti immediately took her to a veterinarian to be given treatment and then nursed her back to health. She is now healthy and spoiled, and Shruti treats her like her own child.
Garfield was dumped like rubbish and ended up inside a dustbin van, but luckily, Swathi heard his cries. He was scared and thirsty and had intestinal worms, so Swathi took him for veterinary treatment, and he recovered well. He’s now happy and healthy and an integral part of the family.
Simran found Jhumu, a kitten, hungry and shivering in her backyard. After receiving some warmth and love, Jhumu now has a special place in Simran’s family and behaves like a queen.
Nakata was drenched through and shivering when Karthika rescued her. After being given all the love and care she needed to recover, she is now a part of Karthika’s family.
Shivangi rescued Tiger after he was abandoned on the streets. After gaining his full trust and affection, she decided to give him a loving permanent home. Now, Tiger enjoys spending time with his kind guardian and loves to sleep beside her.
When Tillu was around just 10 days old, her mother died. Her rescuer, Soni, heard the little kitten crying and started taking care of her. She is now a happy and well-behaved cat.
Urshita rescued Licky after he was left under the water tank on her terrace. After receiving plenty of love and care, Licky became a part of the family.

This contest ends on 11 July 2017, and the winners will be announced on 13 July 2017. The winners will be chosen by PETA’s judges, with equal consideration given to three factors: the total number of votes received, PETA’s assessment of the physical attractiveness of the cat, and PETA’s assessment of how heart-warming and motivational the submitted rescue story is.
