WeWork Bans Meat; PETA Has Vegan Starter Kits for its 6,000 Employees
Sure, ditching plastic straws is good, but WeWork—the New York–based shared-workspace giant that’s always upping the ante on sustainability responsibility—has begun excluding meat from all of its events’ meals and has told its employees that they’ll no longer be reimbursed for meals containing meat prompting PETA US to honour them with the prestigious Compassionate Business Award

The new policy takes place immediately and will affect some 6,000 employees worldwide. This means that the company’s upcoming Summer Camp event will be cow, chicken, and pig flesh–free. According to an e-mail obtained by CNN, WeWork cofounder Miguel McKelvey explained that in just those three days, an estimated 10,000 animals will be spared.
McKelvey stated that WeWork can save “an estimated 16.7 billion gallons of water, 445.1 million pounds … of CO2 emissions, and over 15 million animals by 2023 by eliminating meat” from its events.
The best thing that anyone can do for the environment is to go vegan.
As McKelvey noted to employees, avoiding meat is a significant action that everyone can take to reduce their personal environmental impact—”even more than switching to a hybrid car.”

This is what PETA US(and the majority of the environmental science community) has been telling folks for decades. United Nations officials have stated that a global shift to a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change.
PETA US applauds WeWork for its righteous action. We hope this will lead the company to establish a 100 percent vegan policy in the near future.
Show some compassion today and go vegan.
Every person who goes vegan is not only helping to protect our Earth but also saving nearly than 200 animals every year from the violence and rampant abuse of the meat, egg, and dairy industries—where animals are crammed into filthy sheds or tiny cages, routinely mutilated, and slaughtered by having their throats slit, often while they’re still conscious.
Anyone who wants to save animals and protect the environment should order a free vegan starter kit today and get started on saving the world!
