17 वर्ष की एक कवित्री ने इंसानों एवं जानवरों के सह-अस्तित्व के हक़ में आवाज़ उठाई

क्या इंसान और जानवर एक साथ जीवनयापन कर सकते हैं?

सृष्टि जैन कुचेरिया नामक 17 वर्षीय कलाकार, उद्यमी, कवि और TED की पूर्व वक्ता ऐसा मानती है कि पशुओं के साथ सकारात्मक सह-अस्तित्व स्थापित करने के लिए इंसानों को और दयालु एवं संवेदनशील बनना पड़ेगा। सृष्टि ने इस विषय पर एक बेहतरीन कविता का पाठ भी किया है जिससे युवाओं को पशुओं के प्रति दयालुता दिखाने हेतु प्रेरित किया जा सके।

यह पहली बार नहीं है जब सृष्टि ने पर्यावरण और सामाजिक मुद्दों के बारे में बात की है। जब वह सिर्फ 14 साल की थी, तो उसने Caught in Colours नामक एक रिसाइकिल और सस्टेनेबल क्यूरियो ब्रांड की स्थापना की थी। उन्होंने TOOBwithPSK नामक व्लॉग और ब्लॉग पेज की सह-स्थापना भी की थी जिसका संबंध “थिंक आउट ऑफ द बुक्स” से है। सृष्टि एक प्रतिभाशाली कलाकार होने के साथ-साथ करिन मार्कर की ऑनलाइन कला प्रतियोगिता और द हिंदू द्वारा आयोजित एक भाषण प्रतियोगिता की विजेता भी रही है। उन्होंने वर्ष  2022 में चेन्नई मॉडल संयुक्त राष्ट्र के महासचिव और अपने स्कूल के इंटरैक्ट क्लब के उपाध्यक्ष के रूप में भी कार्य किया है, जिसके द्वारा युवाओं को धर्मार्थ और स्वयंसेवी गतिविधियों से जोड़ा जाता है।

Animals and Humans, Can They Co-Exist

When I was young I was taught animals are nature’s beauty

And to protect these voiceless beings is our duty

But when I grew up I could see that they are tortured and abused

Every day for us to be entertained and amused

In the name of religion, entertainment and sport

they are being skinned alive, beheaded and used for transport.

In the name of conservation and progress

We are punishing them with captivity and distress

We have substituted co-existence with selfishness that has made us blind.

Today we are ignorant of being sympathetic and being kind

Do you want to know how?

Let me tell you now.

Raja the hippo of Jumbo circus was blinded mercilessly

Broken and impaired permanently

Courage the dog was assaulted by four

And the black buck case happened not long before

Avni, the tiger was shot dead point blank

But who cares! All they care about is their vote banks

Are we really made of blood and feelings? I can’t understand

Are humanity and justice imaginary words? Why can’t we lend a helping hand

When you flaunt your tiger skin carpet

Your leather pant, crocodile purse or fur jacket

Does it show your wallet, status, and reputation

Or your emotionless heart and need for validation

We all get away, no matter what we do

But how do you get away from your consciousness pointing a finger at you?

Let me ask you this

Do you want to be an animal in your next birth?

Well I am sure, we are one right now, worse than ever, misfit for mother earth

It is easy to quit and blame fate

It is easy to be convinced that it’s too late

So, I know it will take some effort and some time

But please raise your voice, like I have mine

Let’s pass out leaflets, let’s educate

Let’s go vegetarian, ban leather and demonstrate.

Because it is high time we stop the kill

Remember if we don’t act, who will?
